A “ditty box” is a small, wooden box issued to sailors to accommodate their personal belongings. They were used to hold cherished possessions as well as practical items.
This particular box belonged to one "E F Penfold", as engraved on the small metal plate below the keyhole. Key included with a working lock (though there is somewhat of a knack to opening it once locked).
Beautifully aged wood with heaps of character, this piece offers enormous charm. Use as it was originally intended, to store treasured possessions and keepsakes, and style on open shelving for maximum enjoyment.
