A wonderfully rustic cup and saucer pair by the late Marianne de Trey, with a beautiful weight and pleasing contrasting glazes. This is the kind of vessel that holds the kind of drink over which one is obliged to take one's time.
Alongside her late husband, Marianne de Trey is credited with re-establishing Bernard Leach's Shinners Bridge pottery. Her work is widely considered to have had a significant impact on pottery's post World War II revival, and, having retired from production work in 1980, she continued to produce personal work thereafter. Marianne was made a CBE for her services to the arts in the 2006 New Year's Honours.
Approximate dimensions: Cup: 6cm high x 12cm wide (incl. handle) | Saucer: 16cm diameter
