A charming paper cut silhouette of a young child by the celebrated American silhouette artist, Baron Scotford, signed and dated 1930, and set in a striking red frame.
After visiting a number of European countries, Scotford emigrated to England around 1912 and settled in London, where he remained for many years, operating initially from a studio in Regent's Street and later Crystal Palace.
This delightful silhouette is some of his later work and shows an example of Scotford's "slash work", where he used cut outs from his paintings to show highlights and contrast.
In good vintage condition with some weathering to the frame. Fitted with wire to the reverse for ease of hanging, with some looseness to the lining paper at the rear, commensurate with age.
Approximate dimensions: 30cm high x 12.5cm wide
Please note this is a vintage / preloved item and as such will feature small imperfections, all of which are inherent to its charm and character.
